Summary0008573: Unsupported land not dropping (yes, cave-ins are enabled)
DescriptionI dug out a channel around about 2/3 of the map, channeled out an aquifer layer, and then tried to drop it. It didn't drop. I'm pretty sure there is nothing visible that could be supporting it. Clear gap all the way around and clear water all the way underneath.
Steps To Reproduce* Load save
* Look
Additional InformationI had a big platform area above supported by trees an a stairway. That collapsed properly when every supporting thing was removed.

Are you absolutely sure? Check above and below it for anything that might be connecting it.

Not sure if trees that have adjecant canopies would stop it from falling.

I<s>'m</s> was 99.8% sure. And I <s>have</s>did, several times.

Ah, there's an up stairway that I didn't think would provide support, but seeing as it hasn't collapsed, maybe it actually does. Whoops. I'll see if I can get rid of the bugger.

[EDIT] Update. It appears that the large lump of land has decided that it is actually unsupported and started dropping of its own accord. I had started work to break the upper stairs mentioned above, but not actually done so. It was possibly triggered into action when I built a small ramp and floor above where the upper stairs is (in preparation for dropping crap on it from above).

Incidentally, for those reading this interested in 'big splash' mechanics this again showed the 'chasm formation' behavior. Where giant lumps of rock dropped from above gain a one tile split through the middle.

You can probably get it to collapse by building a ramp, wall, and floor over the chasm on the left (one z up from ground level) above where the up stairs are.

[EDIT] All trees were cut down on left hand side of map.

I think this may be related to 0008555 Pathfinding not updated when trees cut down. If the land was supported by trees, but the trees were cut down, it may not be updating the 'supported/not supported' thing.

I'm pretty sure this was 0006949 and is fixed.
