Summary | 0008801: Ghost starts haunting fortress while remains entombed in coffin
Description | A recruit died from an early run-in with a giant rat. I built a coffin and buried (most of) his corpse. A troll decided to destroy the coffin. After the troll wandered off, I built a second coffin and reburied the recruit. Several months later the recruits angry ghost appeared and ripped a leg off my carpenter. I verified that (most of) the recruit's corpse is still in the second coffin. Adding a memorial slab put the ghost to rest. Additionally, the leg-ripping incident didn't appear in a combat report.

See http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Ghost "If a ghost is put to rest and subsequently re-raised (by deconstructing its coffin or slab), it will return as a Murderous Ghost." Better to make sure each of your dead dwarves is buried in a coffin, was memorized via a memorial slab and that it stays so. |

There was no ghost prior to the first burial, and the second burial occurred well before the ghost appeared. Unless it's intentional that dwarves cannot be successfully reburied this still sounds like a bug. |
