| Steps To Reproduce | get some dye in a barrel, it is no longer inside a bag in the barrel, attempt to dye thread or cloth. dorf takes the thread/cloth to the dyer, and then there is a message "Urist, McDyer cancels Dye Thread: Needs unrotten dye item." | ||||

Reminder sent to: Thutmose Are you saying the dye was simply in a barrel and not in a bag that was in a barrel? Can you verify if the barrel was being tasked or hauled at the time? |

Can confirm. Here's a save with easy access to a relatively complete textile industry. There's cloth and dye available near the dyer's workshop. Reminder sent to: ysua You only have 1 thread (which may or may not have been used during surgery, making it useless for weaving - see 0000771), and your stockpiles (thread, dye) aren't set to give to the dyer's workshop. |

the dye was in a barrel in a stockpile, however it was not inside bags in the barrel like it used to be, I had plenty of thread available too. I tried placing the dyer's workshop in a burrow with the thread and dye, as well as setting the stockpiles to give to the workshop, and neither worked. The dwarf takes the thread/cloth to the workshop, then proceeds to give the cancelation message. here is the first page of contents of the barrel: http://imgur.com/6gBEOXN I cannot seem to replicate 0008755, my dwarves take thread out of the bins for weaving/dying just fine. |

Additional note: If you make a stockpile for dyes with no barrels or pots allowed then dorfs will store dye bags in there and dyers will use those normally. The same applies to flour and seeds too; seed however are usable singularly and a cook will use the whole barrel of flour as one of the ingredients (but all the flour is used normally, giving planepacked meals.) Seems that the fix for lye buckets is at work here as well... on the plus side you don't need that many bags. |

yep, the no barrels workaround did infact make the dye work again, I shall be doing that until this bug is fixed then. |

A previous fix for lye or bucket items may have done this. |

It gets worse: dworfs will store honey, royal jelly, olive oil and any other possible stuff that is normally stored in jugs into bins without the jugs. So if you want to even consider making mead, olive soap or cooking the jelly then you cannot have ANY tools stockpiles with bins allowed. Edit: also, a bin that contains something "illegal" becomes bugged and apparently the only way to get the gunk out of it is to sell the contents. Or dump the whole bin into magma. |
