| Summary | 0009623: Pen/Pasture Animal job on an unreachable animal gets stuck; no more jobs are generated. | ||||
| Description | I set up a zone and assigned all my poultry to it, and a second zone and assigned all my grazing animals to that. A bunch of them got pastured in the right place, but eventually I got a "Pen/Pasture Stray Turkey Hen" job in the jobs list that just stayed inactive. After that, the game wouldn't generate any more "Pen/Pasture Animal" jobs, leaving the rest of my grazers to starve to death inside. Eventually I realized that the birds in question had flown on top of my pasture's wall where they couldn't be reached. The game appears to assign the job to a dwarf who gives up when they can't find the bird, but the job stays inactive instead of being cancelled, and no further jobs are queued up. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1. Set up a pasture with a wall around it. 2. Wait for a bird to fly to the top of the wall. 3. Try to assign said bird to the pasture. At this point, you should get a job to Pen/Pasture the bird, assigned to a dwarf. After a few seconds, the job will go inactive (presumably the dwarf gives up when it can't reach the bird) but the job is not canceled so there is no announcement. | ||||
| Additional Information | As soon as the pending bird becomes reachable, the inactive job is automatically assigned to someone and the game queues up more, until it runs into the next unreachable bird. This includes, e.g. building a ramp/stairs to the top of the wall, or just waiting for the bird to fly down on its own. (For some reason, my turkey hen stayed up there for almost a year.) | ||||
