| Summary | 0000963: Embark on a brook | ||||
| Description | The region was mountainous to the East and Temperate Savannah to the West with a brook running North-South through the center. Embark size was 4x4. The brook was almost completely edged by cliffs and the embark wagon and dwarves/animals started on top of the brook and stayed there. No one drowned and the wagon didn't fall or collapse into the brook. It was adjacent to the cliff walls, but through [k] look around I found no hidden floor tiles supporting it. Through further testing I found I could build workshops and other constructions on top of the brook; the dwarves/animals also walked across the brook as though there was nothing there. I could also channel through the top of the brook ad designate mining on the level with actual water, though no one would execute this order. Water flows into any channeled or mined-out tiles, but dwarves continue to walk across the top of all the brook's tiles as if there was ground. There was no other water in the area, so it is unknown wether or not all water behaved this way. | ||||

Brooks are special tiles that are shallow. Anything can walk over them. This is intended and has been this way for quite some time. |

As Dwarfu said, this is normal. Brooks have water, but they're not deep enough for anything to drown in them. If you go a z-level lower, you should not see water, unlike with a river. Although why the dwarves would decide to stop their wagon in the middle of the brook is beyond me... |
