| Description | Says it in the summary. I have a mixed squad of one local dwarf, and a bunch of mercenaries. I'm wondering, is it impossible for local dwarves to spar with mercenaries in their military squad? | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1.Have a single local dwarf in a squad 2.Have a bunch of mercenaries in that squad. 3.Watch as they barely progress in skill from never sparring. | ||||

Dwarves won't spar until they have significant experience with their weapon: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=151642.0 Try sending him out to hack up some benign wildlife to kickstart his training up to "talented", then see if he starts sparring. |

Thanks. Question though, will mercenaries spar too, once they get skilled enough? |

I've seen mercenaries spar in my game. I'm using ver. 43.05, however. |

Question 2(sorry to be annoying): do both parties have to be "Talented"+, or do I need just one? |

I've seen it happen when both parties were as low as "Skilled". Perhaps personality and/or mutual friendship between those sparring is a factor, here? |
