Summary0010118: «grown wolf bone earring»
DescriptionIn a citron wood chest in a dungeon under a keep in a town, I found a «grown wolf bone earring», described as follows:

This is a grown wolf bone earring. It is decorated with chestnut.

Is it referring to the chestnut decoration? I'm not sure. But anyway, it seems potentially like a bug.

Cute. I've seen grown linen clothing brought by elves, as well. :V

What specifically is the issue here? "Is is"? "Grown wolf bone"?

I'm guessing the issue is that only wooden things should logically be "grown".

Ah, yeah, that sounds like an issue. It's possible that "grown" is referring to the chestnut decorations, but if so, it's in the wrong place. There was also a mention of this at 0009275:0034102, but there's no wood involved there at all.

Elves are only allowed to kill animals in self defense, the example of a rampaging carnivorous wolf or a forgotten beast invasively forcing them to retaliate would fit the criteria with the 'grown' applied afterwards in goods generation to make it ethical to barter & own.

Anecdotally i had a goblin (i edited the raws a bit) scribe a book on demon fiend parchment which had died within the dark-fortress, so they will re-use materials of fallen animals/invaders if it fits criteria to own & sell.

It makes more sense if you interpret "grown" as "elf-kosher": since all the wood parts are "elf-kosher", the resulting item is also marked "elf-kosher". Using a different (elven) word instead might make the distinction a little clearer.

Do items decorated by dwarves using elf-grown wood logs still receive the "grown" description?

@lethosor: there are apple wood decorations on the "grown" piccolo in 0009275.

Loci: thanks for checking on that - I was going by the original comment.

Hinaichigo: I assume you meant that the original issue should be changed to "It is", so I'll do that. Let me know if I misinterpreted your comment.

That's what I meant, thanks.
