Summary0007402: Legends says retired fort was later conquered and inhabitants killed, but they're alive on reclaim
DescriptionI ran a very short lived fortress (i wanted to see how it would thrive by itself) named Thinnedmerchant that i retired for a while to let it live its life

I played a few adventurers, and then decided to play another fortress, then i recieved after some time the message that we entered the Age of Goblins, i played a bit more until i got the fort self sufficient then retired it for a while

I gave a look to the Legends to see what happened that lead into the Age of Goblins and noticed this about my old fortress, Thinnedmerchant :

So what happened is that a goblin army simply conquered my old fort and as mentionned in that report they murdered every of my embark dwarves that were there.

I decided to roleplay a vengeance and unretired an adventurer, recruited a few human allies and went to the Thinnedmerchant location.
But to my surprise, the dwarves that are stated as having been all killed are in fact all alive.
I don't know if it's the cloning bug that is affected the NPC too, or if it's the world update that didn't worked correctly, but in any case here is the saved game :

Next to my group of adventurers there is a dwarf named Nish Gatizzulban - "Nish Fondlebanner" (press L then once the cursor is on it "dwarf woodworker" press a then d to read the description and see the name of the dwarf is Nish Gatizzulban ) that is one of my old embark dwarf and as you see in the report in the gif screenshot, that dwarf has been killed.
But there it's obvious something went wrong as the dwarf is still there and not a corpse

You can "give in to starvation" to get out of my adventurer game and check the legends to see the report about the site Thinnedmerchant and the name of the dwarves that should be dead (but are still there), and you can check Nish Fondlebanner entry in historical figure to see that he is indeed dead despite he's still there in the adventure mode

I loaded the save, killed Nish myself and then retired the adventurer in nearby hamlet.
Then I looked at the legends and this is what I got:

So she is dead two times now :)

Another thing: if you try to reclaim with fortress dwarves, your former inhabitants that legends mode claims were killed are not only alive, but hostile to your new dwarves. Each one of them will spam an "An ambush has appeared" message and attack your new seven embarkers.

They are similarly alive when you use dfhack to spawn a new embark on top of the old one, but in that case they will not be hostile to your new dwarves.
